ROYAL OAK GOLF COURSE

The Royal Oak City Commission is rewriting the Master Plan language to allow the Royal Oak Golf Course to be sold and developed.

The Planning Commission, City Commission, and the hired Consultant collaborated to control and suppress most citizen input into their version of the new Master Plan! The Mayor and Commission also ignored multiple requests of the residents and golfers who wanted the Royal Oak Golf Course protected into the future with these protections written into the new Master Plan. However, they dismissed your concerns and will designate the golf course land as OTHER OPEN SPACE, allowing them to sell the golf course!

This language change, they will tell you is insignificant but enables their plan to peddle the Royal Oak Golf Course property to their developer contributors, much like happened with Normandy Oaks.

Currently the Mayor and City Commissioners have given the Parks and Recreation committee direction to research “alternative uses: for the Golf Course land. Additionally, the Mayor and City Commissioners dictated the terms of the current golf course management contract, to a single year contract that expires right after the November 2025 City elections.
