What the Royal Oak Planning Commission Calls a Town Hall Is No Such Thing

It has come to our attention that what the Royal Oak Planning Commission calls a "Town Hall" (which will be held Monday, Sept. 16, 2024, at 6PM) is no such thing but rather a controlled exchange where participants must submit their comments andquestions and the Commissioners will select who can speak and, by extension, what they can say.

THAT is NOT A PUBLIC TOWN HALL MEETING and doesn't follow the free exchange of ideas that define a Democratic Republic.

Also, the "Yes In My Back Yard" (YIMBY) Royal Oak minority have been alerted to attend the Monday, Sept. 16, city meeting. YIMBYs are West-Coast-centric ideologues whose name clearly communicates what they believe: the purging of the Single Family Home protections as we know them.

Not to mention that the hired consultant writing this plan is from Oregon — does he reflect all of our values, or just a radical portion?

It'll be interesting to note whether the YIMBYs get a disproportionate amount of air time at this meeting.

IS THIS MASTER PLAN A FOREGONE CONCLUSION?
If not, then how does the administration plan to incorporate resident opinion even if it is counter to any preconceived conclusions now incorporated?
